Cytomorphological spectrum of various breast lumps using FNAC as diagnostic modality

Background: Breast carcinoma is the most common malignant tumour and leading cause of death from cancer in women. FNAC breast lumps an important mode investigation forms a part triple test. cost effective can prevent unnecessary surgery. This study intended to look frequencies different lesions palpable lump. Methods: It hospital based prospective conducted November 2016 October 2017 Department Pathology, GMC Jammu. was done total 289 patients who presented with lump along suspected enlarged axillary lymph node, if any. We assessed age patient, lesion size, site, type node metastasis case malignancies. Results: Out studied, 250 (86.5%) were females 39 (13.4%) males. Age ranges 7-88 years mean 36 years. Most 21-30 group (30.6%). 241 cases (96.4%) while swelling diffuse 9 cases. Maximum number seen i.e. 75 (30%). Upper outer quadrant involved 70 (28%). On FNAC, there (12.4%) Inflammatory lesions, 198 (68.5%) benign 29 (10.06%) breast. Among maximum 58 (20.06%) reported as Fibroadenoma. cytological categorisation diseases on 221 (76.4%) categorised C2 (Benign) followed by C5 (Malignant).
